SIP Calculator
A Systematic Investment Plan puts the same amount into a mutual fund scheme every month. Because each instalment buys units at whatever the price is that month, you end up buying more units when markets are low and fewer when they are high — which takes the guesswork out of timing. This calculator shows what a steady monthly amount could become at a rate of return you choose.

What this calculator assumes
- Each instalment is invested at the start of the month, which is how a SIP mandate normally runs.
- The return you enter is treated as a steady annual rate, compounded monthly. Real markets do not move in a straight line.
- Nothing is deducted for expense ratio, exit load, stamp duty or capital gains tax. Your actual in-hand amount will be lower.
- The instalment stays the same throughout. Use the Step-Up SIP calculator if you plan to increase it each year.

Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully before investing. The rate you enter here is an assumption you have chosen, not a return we offer or expect — real returns vary year to year and can be negative. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Questions people ask us about this
What return should I enter?
There is no correct answer, because nobody knows what a fund will do. People often model equity funds somewhere between 10% and 12% a year over long periods and debt funds between 6% and 7%, based on long-run history — but history is not a forecast. Run the number at a lower rate as well and see whether the plan still works. If it only works at 15%, it is not a plan.
Does this calculator include tax and charges?
No. It shows gross growth only. In practice a fund charges an expense ratio, some schemes charge an exit load if you redeem early, there is stamp duty on purchase, and gains are taxable when you sell. We will walk you through what applies to the specific scheme you choose.
Can I stop or change a SIP later?
Yes. A SIP is not a lock-in. You can pause it, stop it, change the amount or switch the scheme. The exception is an ELSS (tax-saving) fund, where each instalment is locked for three years from its own date.

This tool does arithmetic. It does not know your income, your other commitments, how you would react to a bad year, or what tax you pay. Send us the figure you arrived at and we will tell you honestly whether the plan behind it holds up.
